Granite

Granite is stain, heat, scratch, and mold/mildew resistant. It's durable and low maintenance and is one of the best ways to increase the value of your home or business. Not to mention, the class and beauty that granite can bring to any room.

Your Granite top will be sealed at installation and will need routinely sealed every few years. Applying sealant is easy and takes about 10-15 minutes. Sealant can be purchased at Mt. Top Granite or from any big box store.

**It is important to periodically do a water test on your granite to see if it is due for a coat of sealant. If you notice water droplets absorbing into your granite and causing a darkening in the granite, it is due for sealing.

Granite is available in polished, honed, and leathered finishes.

Quartz

We offer Quartz material from at least 10 different manufacturers, all of which are stain, scratch, and heat resistant to 450 degrees F. Quartz products also come with a warranty from the manufacturer. Quartz is a manmade product, comprised of 97% crushed Quartz and 3% resin binders and pigments. The product is compacted together under extreme pressure to create a dense, durable, and nonporous material. In recent years, Quartz products have expanded their color ranges tremendously and now offer hundreds of colors from solid to speckled to natural stone look alikes. Quartz never has to be sealed or any routine maintenance done, making it a growing choice for both residential and commerical projects!

Marble

Marble is a relatively soft and porous material, but it's characteristics and color variations are hard to match with any other stone - natural or manmade. We seal our Marble tops at installation with a heavy duty sealant, but it should be routinely sealed about every 6 months. As long as Marble is sealed properly and on time, it should resist staining. Because of it's softness, it can scratch easily, regardless of any sealant applied (sealing does not protect against scratching). Marble is available in polished and honed finishes.

Travertine

Travertine is a natural stone such as Marble, Granite, Onyx, Limestone, Slate etc. The key difference between Travertine and other natural stones lies in the formation of the rock, the hardness of the stone and the appearance. Travertine is formed in hot springs and/or limestone caves. Travertine is not the same as Marble or Limestone which falls in the metamorphic rock category. Key characteristics of Travertine stone are the holes within the stone which are caused by carbon dioxide evasion.

Soapstone

Soapstone's talc composition make it the softest stone that we offer. With beautiful shades of blue, gray, and green and gorgeous veining, Soapstone is a popular choice with country and classic kitchens. Soapstone does not require any routine maintenance, but will show signs of scratching - it is part of the rustic quality of the stone. Small scratches can be buffed with a fine grain sand paper and mineral oil can, but doesn't have to be, routinely applied to mask surface blemishes and to bring out the richness of the veins. Soapstone is a more honed finish versus the polished finishes most Granite, Marble, and Quartz have.
